Harnesses
Harnesses are for more experienced powerkiters only.
If you’re wearing a harness and things go wrong you can’t just let go.
Some harnesses have a quick release system but many need you to pull the handles or control bar in first, something you probably won’t be able to do in an emergency.
Even when you do become proficient enough to attach yourself to your kite, practise ditching your kite so you can do it instinctively if the need arises.
Harnesses should be set up with the connecting harness line at the appropriate length. Don't use the lazy man’s setup, where your arms are bent and the handles or bar too close to your body. You control your kite with your arms, so make sure the harness only takes the pull just before your arms become straight. That way you can still fly the kite while the harness takes the load but have plenty of room to pull the handles in.
Seek professional advice if you’re in any way unsure about how you should use a harness with your handles or bar.
